end of February. He is listed alone in the 1850 Minnesota Territorial Census
in Long Prairie, as having been born in Illinois. He came to Minnesota in 1849
and worked on the building of Ft. Ripley and the Winnebago Agency at Long
Prarie. He was the earliest pilot on the upper Misissippi where he hauled
lumber for many of the first houses built in St. Cloud. He and
O-dish-quah-gah-me-quay were divorced around 1860, after which he married Mary
Jane Morrison and had several more
children.
