Clifford Monroe Skinaway Sr. (Hereditary Chief Hole-in-the-Day VII), 54, died
Tuesday, July 5, 1994.
Funeral services in the traditional Ojibwe custom will be held today at the
East Lake Community Center. Burial will be Friday at the burial grounds of the
Sandy Lake Village.
Mr. Skinaway formerly lived and worked in Bemidji and owned and operated an
automotive repair shop here. He lived in Sandy Lake most of his life and is a
descendant of Chief Hole-in-the-Day of the Mississippi Ojibwe.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gloria; daughters, Sandra Perry of
Sandy Lake, Lorene Skinaway of Bemidji, Elizabeth Skinaway of Duluth, Jean
Pendleton of Fort Brag, N.C., Julie Skinaway and Emma Skinaway, both of Sandy
Lake; sons, Clifford Skinaway, Jr., Monroe John Skinaway III and Kenneth Roy
Skinaway, all of Sandy Lake; and six
grandchildren.

Lowell P. Skinaway, of Red Lake and Minneapolis, died Saturday, Feb. 19,
1994, at his home in Minneapolis.
Funeral services wil be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Red Lake withthe Rev. Bill
Mehrkens officiating. A wake at the Red Lake Community Center continues until
the time of services Thursday. Burial will be at the Red Lake Catholic
Cemetery with arrangements by the Snustad Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers are Virgil Skinaway, Ronald Skinaway, David Skinaway
Jr., Quinton Johns, Franklin Skinaway and Michael Johns. Active pallbearers
are Bruce Johns, William Spears, Donald Brun Jr., Royce Graves Jr., Donald
Grimes and Al
Skye.
