Robert Joseph "Bobby Jo (B.J.)" Graves, 47, of Redby died Thursday, June 16,
1994, at the Red Lake Indian Health Service Hospital in Red Lake.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Monday at the American Indian Center at
Franklin and Bloomingon Avenues in Minneapolis with the Rev. Mark MacDonald
officiating. A wake begins today and continues through Saturday at the Redby
Community Center. A wake at the American Indian Center begins at 3 p.m. Sunday
and includes a prayer service at 8 p.m. Interment will be at Fort Snelling
National Cemetery in Minneapolis under the direction of the Cease Family
Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Mr. Graves was born Jan. 27, 1947 in Minneapolis, the son of Wilford and
Gladys Graves. He grew up and went to school in Mineapolis and married Floreen
Thomas there Sept. 9, 1972. They moved to Red Lake in 1984. He was formerly
employed by the Red Lake School Disctrict as a coach for football, basketball
and baseball. He helped organize the Red Lake Peacemaker Juvenile Justice
Program and was involved in golf, bowling and pool leagues.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Berbly, a son, B.J., and three foster
children, Denise, Floyd and Christopher, all of Redby, three grandchildren;
four sisters, Donna Campbell and Elizabeth Seaboy, woth of Watertown, S.D., and
Patty and Joyce Graves of Bemidji, and two borthers, Richard of Ponemah and
Roland "Jimmy" of Bemidji.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara and Beverly;
and a brother,
William.
