George L. Whitefeather, 62, of Redlake died Thursday at Veterans
Administration Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Redlake Community Center with burial
at the family burial ground in Ponemah under the direction of Olson-Schwartz
Funeral Home. A wake started Saturday and continues until the time of services
Monday at the community center.
Pallbearers are Tilford Hill, Charles Martin, Charles Martin, Jr., Duane
Columbus, and LeRoy and Robert Whitefeather. Honorary pallbearers are Leland
and Vernon Whitefeather,Melvin Lawrence, Donald Cook, Adolph Lussier, and
Vernon Clark.
He was born Sept. 21, 1925, at Redlake, the son of Richard and Angeline
Whitefeather. He grew up in the area and had attended Ponemah School. He
entered the U.S. Navy at age 18 during World War II and later served in the
U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned to Redlake where he worked in the
woods and did commercial fishing and trapping. He married Julia Martin on Feb
3, 1970 in Clearbrook and the cuple lived in Redlake. He was a member of the
Red Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife and a sister, Leona Fineday of Pennington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two
brothers.

Skinaway, McGregor, four brothers, Bernard and Martin of Redlake, Leroy Jr. and
Richard of Minneapolis, four sisters, Jackie and Gloria Whitefeather of
Redlake, Georgianna Strong of Redby, Ramona Fineday of Minneapolis. He was
preceded in death by his brother, Ralph
Jones.
