James Requa was descended from French Huguenots who came to America about
1689. Further information may be secured from a published history of the
Requa family (Published abt 1910)
James was an expert carpenter and cabinet maker.
While serving in the Union army during the Civil War he was detailed out to
serve as a clerk, as he was a good penman.
After marriage lived on a farm near New Lancaster, Kansas
Sometime between 1883 and 1892 moved to Paola, Kansas and engaged in grocery
business.
Prior to 1895 moved to Fort Scott, Kansas, engaged in furniture and
undertaking business.
Lists death date as "Fall,
1911"
