Paul Aoysius Prentice Jr., 66, of Redby died Monday, July 18, 1994, at the
Redlake Hospital.
Funderal services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Redlake with Monsignor William Mehrkens officiating. Visitation continues at
the Redby Community Center until the time of services. The Olson-Schwartz
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary pallbears are Herbert and Robert McNeal, Robert Head, Chris
Schoenborn, Donald Needham and Richard Cobenais. Active pallbears will be Mike
Fairbanks, Rodney Prentice Jr., Mike Roy, Juel Fairbanks Jr., Victor Roy Jr.
and Kevin Beaulieu, with Paul Prentice and Chris Fairbanks as alternates.
Mr. Prentice was born Oct. 25, 1927, at Redlake, the son of Paul and Mary
Jane (Martin) Prentice. He attended school in Redlake, then entered the U.S.
Army during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1947, he
returned to Redlake. He married Marian Needham Feb. 17, 1951, at Redby. He
was employed with the Redlake Indian Mills, Minneapolis Park Construction, U.S.
Public Health Services, Operation Mainstream and the Elderly Maintenance Repair
Program. He also served as a representative of the Redby District on the
Redlake Tribal Council.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Patricia (Don Silverstar)
Prentice, Della Prentice and Barbara (Thomas) Westbrook, all of Redby; a son,
Charles (Donna) Prentice, Sr., of Redlake; 13 grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Beaulieu of Cass Lake and Elsie
Fairbanks of St. Paul; a brother, Rodney (Cindy) Prentice of Redlake; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, six sisters and two
brothers.
