26 Sep 1861, enlisted in the Civil War. Mustered in at Fort Snelling, 7 Nov
1861. Privates made $13/month. He as in Co.B., 3rd Minn. Vol. Inf. He was
wounded at Wood Lake on 23 Sep 1862.
There was a Sioux Indian revolt at Wood Lake and the soldiers were called
back to Minn. He re-enlisted on 2 Feb 1864 and was honorably discharged 2 Sep
1865
