Born near Sugar, Kansas. The post office at the time of his birth was Sugar;
near Drexel, Missouri. Sugar post office was discontininued when the nearby
town of Drexel, Missouri, was established.
He was the last horse-and-buggy circuit riding minister in the State of
Washington.
!SOUR: Obituary: Grant James Edward Keetch was born in Miami County, Kansas,
November 29, 1883. He died at Upland, California, June 6, 1953, whle en route
to attend the graduation of his son, John, at Redlands University.
Grant Keetch ws the eldest of six children of John James and Mary Requa
Keetch, who lived on a farm near Drexel, Mo.
He received his higher education at William Jewell College, Ottawa
University, and Rochester Theological Seminary. Following graduation from
Ottawa University, with the Class of 1913, he cared for his mother at their
home in Kansas until he was licensed to preach, on March 6, 1915. He was
ordained as a Baptist minister by his first church, in Lake City, South Dakota,
November 16, 1919.
He was united in marriage to Clara McKay, a graduate of Ottawa University,
1916. In the Fall of 1917 he entered Rochester Divinity School, from which he
received his Bachelor of Divinity degre. Thereafter, until his death, he was a
Minister of the Gospel, serving churches in Montana, Washington, Idaho, and
California.
Shortly before his death he retired from the active ministry, and had
purchased a home in Gonzales, Calif., where Mrs. Keetch will teach elementary
school.
Surviving are Mrs. Keetch and their four children: Mrs. Mary Satterlee,
Summit City, Calif.; Mrs. Lois Morris, Sacramento, Calif.; George Keetch, St.
Louis, Mo.; and John Keetch, Gonzales, Calif. Also surviving are four
grandchildren: Dennis Morris, Bruce Morris, Clara Satterlee, and John Robert
Keetch
