[notations]: "State of Minnesota, County of Hennepin}SS, [certifying]
that B.M. Smith, Esq. [notary, witnesses application] this 7th day of NOV,
1878, [for] Mary Louisa Quinn, a Half Breed or mixed blood of the Chippewas
of Red Lake, or Pembina Bands ... a citizen of the United States, and on the
2d day of OCT, 1863, over the age of twenty one years. [witnessed]

Affidavit of William L. Quinn], "a Red Lake Chippewa half breed, born and
until she was over 21 years of age resided at Red Lake, Minnesota ... and that
[she] made application and received scrip under the La Pointe Treaty for 80
acres of land and that she disposed of the same to one Van Etten, Isaac for
$40."
