!OBIT: [Obituary, The Pioneer, Bemidji, SEP 24, 1989], "Reuben Fairbanks, 79 of
Brainerd died Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis.
  "Services were held Satruday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd and
at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Redlake.  The Rev. Lorian Fairbanks officiated
at both, with the Rev. Roland Antus at the Brainerd service.  Interment was in
the Catholic cemetary at Redlake, with arrangements by the Nelson-Doran Funeral
Home of Brainerd.
  "He was born NOV 17, 1910, in St. Paul and was a graduate of St. John's
University.  A veteran of World War II, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater
and in the Phillippean liberation.  He was a member of St. Francis Catholic
Church and Brainerd American Legion Post 255.  He was formerly in business in
Red Lake and was also a license examiner in Brainerd for many years.
  "He is survived by his wife, Alice; five sons, Clinton of Red Lake, Michael
of Pine Ridge, S.D., Ike of Brainerd, Florian of Minneapolis, and Kevin of
Duluth; three daughters Catherine Vergin Fairbanks of Bellingham, Wash., Karen
Aice Wickstrom of King Cove, Alaska and Rita Fairbanks of Brainerd; 20
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Father Lorian Fairbanks
of St. Anthony,
N.D."
