-121-2, published by the Minnesota Historical Society: Became a partner of
Joseph Rolette, Sr. (in an agreement signed in the office of Montreal notary
James A. Gray on April 20, 1805) in a fur trading company to operate for
seven years as Murdoch Cameron & Co. at Michilimackinac and its
"dependencies in the Indian Country." Cameron was to have a two-thirds
share in the company for the first four years, after which they were to
become equal partners. Listed as hiring men in the summers of 1807 and 1810
to winter on the St. Peter's River and in locations given marely as "Sioux"
and "Sud." It is possible that the latter is a misspelling of the former,
which may have indicated the Indians with whom Cameron traded on the
Minnesota River. For more on Cameron, who died there in 1811, see Minnesota
Historical Collections, 1:308
