of the American Fur Company, from whence all the intferior agencies received
their stated suplies. Dr. B.W. Borup was then at the head of this department
of the Company's operations. He was a Dane, from Copenhagen, and a highly
cultured and intelligent gentleman, in whose family I found, on his invitation,
a most pleasant home, during my stay on the
Island.
